Amir Avivi to Newsmax: Must Decide What ‘Hell to Pay’ Means for Hamas

Hamas will “play everything in its book” to sabotage the ceasefire and hostage release agreement, and questions remain about what will make them release the remaining hostages, lay down their weapons, and leave Gaza, retired Israel Defense Forces Brig. Gen. Amir Avivi told Newsmax on Sunday.

“This is a huge challenge,” Avivi told Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Weekend,” commenting on the release of four Israeli hostages this weekend. “When President [Donald] Trump said there will be hell if they won’t release the hostages, now we have to translate this to action and explain to ourselves and the administration together what hell exactly means.”

Israel, he added, won’t let Gazans return to the northern part of the region unless civilians are released, and meanwhile, “We have to really make sure that Hamas adheres exactly to what the agreement says. I’m hoping that we’ll manage to really do the whole first phase and release 33 hostages.”
